“The role of art is to tell the truth.”

THE ARTIST STATEMENT

In 2016, I had a curious idea - what if I could create moving portraits of mostly unsung beacons of American exceptionalism? I envisioned an environment not only to commune with hidden histories, symbolic stories, and astronomical accomplishments, but to understand the pride of aspiration; the notion of something built that’s greater than what others confine us to.

The show is meant to embody our mark on categories of our everyday culture. I invite audiences to reflect on the full scope of our shared human experience by investigating their place in the nature of time.

This will be my first solo show and most important work to date. Thank you for playing even a small part in this journey. I do not take your time for granted.

Sincerely,
- George McCalman

I’m envisioning this exhibition as an installation, a show, a calling and invitation. It is an antidote to our cultural atrophy, a way to galvanize Americans to move closer to the intimate marriage between art and information, threading the needle of American accomplishment. It is a way to make our unseen information accessible in three dimensions for everyone.
